On my 2018 Toyota RAV4 (Japan built), I’m having trouble with flashing TPMS light. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated!

So I bought new OEM TRW 315 MHz sensors (42607-0R010) from a seemingly reputable eBay seller (item 176254537339). I took pictures of the 4 sensors before putting them in, as shown.

The local tire shop tire installer guy (not a mechanic) put them in when I replaced all 4 tires and then used an Autel TPMS programming tool. This did not solve the flashing light after driving for 2 weeks.

I went back to the tire shop, but they couldn’t figure it out. The 4 IDs on the new sensors corresponded with the 4 IDs physically etched on the new OEM sensors. The sensor battery status also showed up as “OK” on their Autel MaxiTPMS TS508 and I had 4 OBD error codes (C2121, C2122, C2123, C2124) for the 4 tires on my BlueDriver Pro scan tool. So I tried using VXDiag NX400 with Techstream to register IDs myself. C2126 Transmitter ID not Received (Main) came up instead.

I’m stuck - did I buy the wrong sensor or did I miss something? The weird thing is on Techstream the tire inflation pressure and temperature in the sensors did not show up unlike what was shown on the Autel MaxiTPMS.

The lock/unlock physical buttons on my transponder key unlocks the car and transmits 315 MHz, so I’m thinking the TPMS receiver is probably fine.

Also, the donut spare tire has no TPMS sensor.

Thank you so much!

Curious - I tried searching for information regarding replacing sensors for Japan-built RAV4 to solve it, but couldn't find it.

I clicked on “view similar parts that fit” on ToyotaPartsDeal. For 42607-52020, it says on ToyotaPartsDeal:
"This part is discontinued." "Currently Unavailable Due to manufacturer supply shortage, this item isn’t currently available for ordering."

What should I do? Is it practically possible to reprogram the ones I have without removing the TPMS sensors, since they appear to also be 315 MHz? Or should I just replace it with a specific aftermarket TPMS sensors like Autel?

My Autel TPMS TS508 says there are 5 different tpms sensor available for the 2018 Rav4. 3 are 315 Mhz and 2 are 433 Mhz. TRW (315), XA50 (433), Pacific (315), TRW (again 315), 410A/XA40/120L (433). Makes for quite a confusing mess. Different brand can cause compatibility issues.

What to do? Find out what the old sensors are. Then buy the same type. If not available then not much choice but to get aftermarket which can be programmed to the same. My Autel can read the old sensor and program a New MX Autel TPMS sensor to the same id number. So, may not have to program the car to new sensors?? Good luck.

Checks out. Problem is I don’t have my old ones. I’ll add that my transponder key generates a 315 MHz signal when pressing the unlock button.

My understanding is US TPMS does 315 MHz. EU is 433 MHz. On Toyota Parts Deal it says my VIN does not match the other 2 that are 315 MHz.

I found this table that may help anyone facing the same issues with regards to 315 MHz.

I have used vdo and bh sens from rockauto with no problem programming. My only problem with them is they only last 5 to 6 yrs.
I ended up just getting Autel MX for $16 each (including free shipping) from an authorized distributor (I checked biz licenses carefully to make sure it's the real deal "authorized") with a used maxitpms tool for $60 on ebay. They claim to last 5+ years and 2 years warranty and I can't imagine why Autel would go under.
