I'm just about to replace the front brake pads on my 97 Rav4. I've ordered the Toyota pads and shim kit. As I've never used shims before with any of my previous vehicles, I came across a question while reading the Hayes Repair book. It talks about an inner and outer shim.
The shim kit from Toyota only has one shim which appears to be the inner one from the book. The directions in the brake pad box from toyota appear to show only one (although it is difficult to see clearly as the font size is around 2). I haven't taken the wheel off yet so have no idea what is there. So I have the pad holder, the shim, and the pad itself. Is this all I need or should there be an extra shim?
