When replacing, is it as necessary to go with Denso on these? I am still trying to pin down a lean bank 1 code (p0171 and p1133) Have done new plugs, new intake gasket, new )O2 sensor (Denso). Looking at injectors, fuel pressure regulator, MAF sensor and coil packs (which also..do they need to be original Denso)?

For what it's worth, if you look at the Denso vs Airtex vs Beck/Arnley, Denso is only a few dollars more. Go with the Denso

Yeah that's a deal if they work like OEM, since a single Denso is $79. Up to you, either way let us know how it works out! Good luck!

I recently replaced my injectors with New Denso. As long as you replace all 4 of the same they should work ok. Denso od OEM. My 02 RAV4 ran lean for a very long time which coused my CAT to go bad 3 times. Check your fuel trims and determine if it's a air leak or fuel restriction. If the lean condition improves while accelerating than it's a vacuum leak or dirty MAF sensor. If on the other hand your STFT get worse while accelerating you may have dirty or faulty fuel injectors. Most injectors don't come with New seals so make sure to get new set of them as well. Good luck

Try swapping injectors from Bank one with the injectors from Bank two. If your bank 1 injectors are causing the p0171 then after the swap you should have p0174, lean on Bank 2. But check your fuel trims first

I will try that next. My STFT for bank 1 hangs out at 20% when under throttle; drops to 0 when foot off the gas, then back to 20 at idle. I figured for 80$ for all for I would just change all of them; rules them all out..lol

How are your Bank 2 Fuel trims? Fuel restriction from the fuel pump would affect both banks at the same time but restricted injectors could depend on which bank. Just remember that if the $80 injectors are remanufactured ones, they may have the car run even worse if the reman job wasn't done not correctly. I personally would go with the OEM and new injectors. The access to remove the old injectors on Rav4 4 cyl is very easy so removing them and inspecting and even cleaning it would be my first choice. You may get lucky though, so good luck.

My bank 2 hangs around -1 to +2%..I figure fuel pressure would affect all, MAF should affect all. coil packs or injectors is my next guess

That was exactly my thought as well. It looks like the injectors in the bank 1 are faulty. Change all 4 and you should be good for a long time. Good luck

OK..went with a set of reman. Denso fuel injectors. Changed them this weekend. Gas mileage went up to 20 from 18; idle is better but still a little rough. Check engine light came back. I took what I hope is a snapshot. Still showing lean bank one. I am at a loss for where to turn next.

From your post looks like your MIL is OFF but you said that the engine light came back on. Try looking at the freeze frame data and look at The latest code and what ambient temperature it registered. If it's still the lean coffee P0171 than maybe you'll have to smoke the car for vacuum leaks. Previously you've mentioned that fuel trims get down to 0 under acceleration and that's a sign of a vacuum leak more than anything. Smok will show you where the leak is.

My stft for bank one is 19.5-20.3 under load; let off the gas it drops to zero. Had the intake manifold gasket changed just in case. I don't hear any exhaust leaks. Anyway to smoke for leaks DIY?

Sorry, I must have misread your previous post. Yes, if under the load the Fuel Trim goes more positive it definitely sounds like a fuel restriction and not the vacuum leak. Actually I had a conversation with a Toyota dealer about this issue when I had the same problem with my 02 Rav4 and mechanic told me that this model never actually had any known intake gasket problems leaking air. On the other hand it did have problems with A/F Ratio Sensors causing sometimes a lean condition on a single bank. If you already replaced the rear O2 sensor on the bank one (hopefully with OEM Denso sensor) then maybe you should test the front A/F Sensor. You could also a swap the left front with the right front to see if the lean condition moves to the bank 2. Also, to make sure that the O2 sensors are working correctly try taking the air filter out and then spray some propane into the air intake while the car is running in closed loop. Observe what is happening to the fuel trims while you are introducing the propane. You should see drastic negative STFT numbers and eventually the LTFT should start going down to zero and then into the negative numbers.

Going to give that a try today! It was all of a sudden ..the progression of things. Bank1 sensor 1 code...couple weeks later, idle starts going funny, and gas mileage dropped from 24/25 city to 17/18. Im trying to figure what would restrict just one bank

I know of mainly few things that would do that, Injectors, O2, A/F Sensor or Intake leaking on one side. Have you replace the Injectors grommets as well? In the end you also could swap the injectors Bank 1 with Bank 2 just to make sure as they were Remanufactured so you never know if one was still faulty.

I did all 4 injectors, grommets and o rings are new. Ahhh give me the days of points and condensors and no o2 sensors,,lol

Any more input? I am stumped. I have changed since last year: Bank 2 sensor 1 A/1f sensor, bank 1 sensor 1, intake gasket, injectors. I still have a high bank 1 fuel trim (short term 20, long term 45) Bank 2 STFT is around 1-3) I introduced propane in yesterday..choked the engine but fuel trim only changed as the car was sputtering. I switched the coils..1 for 2 and 4 for 3. That way it would completely change bank one. Had no engine light for a while..STFT still at 20.3...light came on and now code p1133. Any thoughts what else to check? I would think fuel pressure regulator or pump would affect all 4 cyl. What else can affect just one bank? I dont seem to hear any exhaust leaks either, but was thinking changing the main gasket just in case

Man, your bank 1 fuel trims are at 65 that's like a massive vacuum leak or something. It's time to smoke your car to exclude a possible vacuum leak. Or take it to a Toyota dealer and tell them what you already did in parts changing and let them diagnose the problem. It maybe worth the $100 to do that. Was your RAV4 ever re-flashed with the new software years ago? PCM problem could be another reason for your problem. I would check with the d dealer

I did teplace the comp 1.5 years ago..tranny issue started and nipped it in the bud. Got the cat code and checked with the seller..he said the computer as flashed according to toyota. Never got the cat code again...was wondering if maybe the computer is sending bad signals
