HI All..

New to the forums and have what I hope is a simple question.

I have a small gas leak coming from the bottom of the fuel filter. Upon removal of the filter it looks like the flare on the end of the line is damaged. My plan was to cut the end off and reflare the line. Does anyone know if it is a single or double flare?? I have never done this on fuel lines but have on plumbing so I am somewhat used to the tool, just cant tell what the existing is as it is pretty messed up. Thanks for any advise.

I would do a single flare. Double flares are mainly used for brake lines,

You could also buy a piece of steel line the same size with a flare on the end, cut the damaged flare off and a little of the old line, buy a piece of line that is already flared, and use a compression fitting to connect them together. That way you don't have to buy a flaring tool and learn the proper way to flare. Even after 40 years of wrenching, every now and then I make a flare that isn't up to my standards, and I've flared hundreds of lines, both single and double.
