I have a 2000 RAV 4 L and need to replace the fuel pump. Does anyone have any idea where it is? Picture?

Hi there

You will need the following tools to remove your fuel pump.

1. A plier with a minimum pince wide of 35mm.

2. 8mm socket.

3. 14mm hex Socket and socket wrench.

4. Philips screw driver

Fuel pump location is inside the fuel tank. To access it, you have to lift your rear passenger chairs.

You will have to remove the carpet, just lift them up. You will see 2 black plastic parnels. One with some electric cables running into it and none on the other. Remove the one with the electric cables. It should be in place with 4 philips screws.

You will then see a plug. Remove the plug. Then you will have to open your fuel cap to let the air pressure stabilise otherwise, there will be fuel flowing out of your tank into your passenger compartment.

Loosen the main fuel hose first with the 14mm socket. You will realise there will be a little amount of fuel coming out. That's ok. Work with your doors open and outside. Then use your plier to remove the other hoses with clamps on them. There will be 2 more hoses. One for the fuel return hose and the other for the fuel equilibrium(whatever it's call) hose.

Lastly, remove the top cap with the 8mm socket. When you finished removing all of them, remove your main fuel hose carefully. There should be 2 copper washers with it. DO NOT LOOSE IT.

When you pull out the entire fuel pump and fuel pevel sensor, it's pretty much straight forward from there.

Good Luck.
