I believe you are right that the outer tie rod end would not make clicking noise. But, check the outer tie rod end for play.

 

I checked that. It slightly rotates a little with excessive force so doesn't seem bad to me.

Should I refill the grease or change the boot or is it normal?

 

 

That's a great video. I watched the other day. Did the test and didn't find any play.

Will retry once again next month when I change my winter tires

 

If you get a single click then it may be a one loose part moving under a load. If you get continuous clicking while driving then I would point to something that is moving - such as the CV.

 

It's like 3 to 4 continuous clicks on full right turn in slow.

One thing is strange, if I wash the CV boots and tie rod area with soap and water... The clicking sound disappears for a week or so but comes back. Not sure why is that.

 

Got it checked today. The mechanic told me nothing is wrong but your strut is bit leaking and upper end (mount side) is worn out.

So struts should be replaced.
Struts - CAD 270 x2 = $ 540
Labor = $270
Wheel Alignment= $95
Other- $25
Links may or may not needed to replace.

Any thoughts?

 

You could do the struts yourself if you have the setup, I would buy the struts & spring combo as a complete set. Don't mess around with the springs. Do it while it's still warm, working with cold tools and cold metal is no fun.

 

No don't have a setup so would be a tough call. But does the estimate seem reasonable? Thanks

 

That is a lot of money but yes the estimate does seem to be close. Remember that you pay mark up on the struts. So, wouldn't know exactly for the struts. The labor is about 2 to 2.5 hours at about $120 per hour. Wheel alignment is about right also. Being able to DIY, you could see savings of around $300 or more??

 

Thought to do DIY but would need tools plus the GF also drives it so don't want to mess up with smt that would end up break it down in the middle of the road and freeze her to death in Canadian winters 😁
