only bad part was there was little to no instructions. So kind of had to figure it out. Wish I made a tutorial video, but was too frustrated tryna figure it out myself haha

 

thanks for the explanation. Follow-up question: did you find that the grill guard is on there solidly? i.e. if you actually hit something, the grill guard will really protect your SUV?

I bought one and put it on but it was designed to be attached to the frame of the RAV4 so poorly, that I concluded that if I hit something, the grill guard itself would do equal amount of damage to my RAV that it looked cool (form) but provided little to no protection (function).

i should clarify. I bought a different after market model than the one you have.

Mainly deer, but yes Zombies if they get in the way. I realize that a deer is totally going to take that thing out, but it will protect the parts I need to get home. Just hoping someone else had put one on so I could hear if there are any tricks before I get started.

 

Yes it is. I had one on my 2012. I learned a few tricks on here that made it easier to install. Was just looking to see if anyone else had done it. Not afraid to be the first, but I value others experience.

 

No real tricks just remember to apply the felt tape on both top and bottom of the hood straps protection.

Not really everything besides the bottom splash guard is designed to fit without modification and can only mount one place.

 

I figured I would have to cut the splash guard. Did you think about trimming the felt to fit more under the hood? Thank you for the pics. Though I always try to do my own modifications to my vehicles, I am never to proud to ask for others insight into what I am doing. I’m not afraid to be a pioneer, but I value others experience.

 

I could, it will help if you had a second person least to hold the bar up while you tighten the bolts you want to pull it up as much as possible for better ground clearance.

 

Do you know how how much it weighs? And could you tell me where on bottom is it mounted to? (Details please) I have a bull bar from my previous cuv and I'm currently designing my brackets to fit this one. My bull guard weights 11 1/2 lbs. 16gauge steel. I will post pics once I'm done but I would rather have something like the one you have. I would cut those side wings that cover lights if it was up to me for several reasons!

Do these interfere with the sensors in the front emblem?? I was going to buy one but CarID said that it "May" interfere...

 

No it doesn't, unless you have parking sensors around the grill itself like on the limited trims.

 

I just have the XLE Premium and if there's any chance of interference, don't want to bother.

I just bought a grille guard from black horse too I just posted it!

 

Finally got mine put on. I think it looks awesome!

 

Did you happen to weigh yours?? The website and customer service told me it weighs 73lbs..but when I weighed mine on a scale it weighed 30.2lbs without the grille guards! And those weighed 18.4lbs roughly together!

 

Yeah. The cutting sucks. Had to buy a new plastic cover because I slipped and cut too much and I don’t like that. Super easy to put on. The instructions leave a lot to be desired, but it can be figured out.
