Hello all--

I have a '97 RAV4 2WD with 81K miles on it. Family owned since new. 1-2 months ago I replaced plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor just due to time not because there was a problem. Car runs great.

This has been going on for a several months if not the past year. At start up it has a very low idle especially when cold in the AM. You have to keep foot on accelerator pedal to keep it running or it will stall.
Once it warms up starting is fine.

What can it be?
Where to start?

Thanks

Head to pep boys or one of the auto parts stores in the area. Phone first but usually they will read the codes for you for naught. However knowing the codes is only the beginning. Come back with all the codes (soft and hard) and hopefully some one will give you a push in the right direction.

AutoZone will read the codes for you for free.
NOT in California. Apparently it's against the law there. Unless there is a licensed mechanic on site, like at Pep Boys.
