So I just changed out the heater core in my 96 2door. It was a pain in the ass but I got it done. Set everything back up, bled the air out and as the engine warmed up I started finally getting heat. But suddenly it dropped off and went to cold. I’ve read that there is no heat sensor. Engine has never had an overheating problem, so I figure thermostat and water pump probably fine. I’m just a backyard mechanic but maybe someone else has run into this problem? Any ideas would help… Thanks!

Air bubble, or a diverter valve (if these have one) would be my first guesses. Try safely jacking up (and supporting/blocking tires) the front end while bleeding for the first.

Thanks Lugnut! I will try to lift it tomorrow and run it again. And check my Haynes to see about diverter valve
