Hey y'all--found this forum and joined up. I'm located in Austin, Texas and took delivery of my first RAV4 last month. At this point we're all aware of Toyota's infamous supply chain shortages on new vehicles, and it took six weeks to get delivery on an XLE Premium with Silver Sky Metallic and a Black Softex interior. It was a little strange to be sure in buying a vehicle without a test drive, but the RAV has been everything I had expected it to be and it was well worth the wait. I didn't want a turbo-4 or a CVT, and I was looking for Toyota's famed reliability in a vehicle for the (literal) long haul. For my needs, this will be the perfect vehicle at this lifestage.

My wife is from Japan and we have some friends who work, or have retired, from Toyota Jidosha. I can tell you how seriously they take the commitment to their work and the pride they take in working for a company that is a way of life. I'll be checking in on the forum threads and look forward to future interactions with the community. Yoroshiku!

Congratulations & welcome to the forum! There's tons of info on here with a lot of really nice folks willing to share their experiences. My wife and I just got our first Toyota last week after waiting since the middle of May. Were you fortunate enough to get a Japanese built vehicle?

A quick story about our purchase, if I may. We got the call from our salesman that our new RAV4 had arrived while we were having breakfast at a restaurant which at one time had been a Ford dealership. We were sitting within a few feet from the spot where I had bought my first car exactly 55 years ago, to the day. Two days later we brought our new RAV4 home, exactly 55 years to the day that I brought my first car home.

Good to hear from you JLH, and thanks for the kind words of welcome. That's quite a story about finding out when your RAV was delivered! The symmetry of events in that case was interesting to say the least after such a long time. The pic of my vehicle on the hauler in the original post was the one my salesman sent when it finally arrived on June 30th. He sent it that morning and by the early evening he had delivered it to me. It was a good day.

To answer your question, the VIN number starts with a 2, so it's one of the RAV's that were built in Canada. Would have been nice had it been a "J", but I know it'll serve us well in the years to come. Congratulations as well on your new hybrid purchase--it's a beauty. Safe travels and see you around!
