I have a RAV4 2005 manual. When I am accelerating from 70+ in 5th My car makes a squealing sound, from the front right passenger's tire area. Before we even changed the brakes we put the car up on a jack and rotated the front passenger tire and it made the sound of metal grinding on metal so we thought it was the brakes. I had the front brakes replaced. It is still making that sound. Any advice?

Jack up the front, and put a safety stand under it. Turn the wheel to verify the noise is still there. If it is remove wheel and tyre. Turn the rotor, if the noise is still there, check for something touching the rotor, stone, bent backing plate etc. remove abs sensor, if sound still there and nothing was touching, remove brake caliper and turn hub if noise still there, it is possibly a unit bearing failure.

Very good plan Bent. The heat shield being the most likely - and an easy fix. And if the car is anywhere near Eastern CT I'd check it for her.
