8 month ago I voted here for ‘no leaks’ . To day I vote ‘yes’
Leak used to happen every other storm. It actually used to happen on a long slow raining day rather than downpour.
I had it fixed under warranty at a dealership but they didn’t replaced headliner which has water stains now. I brought it up to attention of Toyota.
will hear back in couple of days.
Should I be concerned about A pillar airbags being soaked occasionally?
Is it a 2021 or 2020 Rav4?

Thought I was in the clear. Had a Rhino Rack set of crossbars installed less than a month ago I would say maybe 2 weeks. First rain in Nor Cal last week not heavy along with a self service car wash yesterday and noticed water stains in the headliner. Was so excited to get this thing built and now it may not happen.

Any roof brushes in that car wash? If they hit the cross bars they would literally jerk the rails up causing the leak.

It wasn't the automatic I washed it myself with the self service. Just used the rinse mode on the roof not even the high pressure. It was when I was drying the base of the rails that I felt some play near the front and rear edges so I had a feeling something was wrong.

What year and model. Are they the low flush mount rails?

It's the 2019 LE. And yup flush rails! Have had it for a hit over a year and have had rain with no issues. I'm almost certain it was the addition of the crossbars on top.
Its a 2019 and it didn't leak until you added crossbars so you're probably right. In theory, the crossbars would get some aerodynamic buffeting and jiggling as the wind moves past and around them, and send it into the flush rails. Now even assuming the rails are bolted down securely (which might be a bad assumption) there might still be some vibration from such buffeting which could destroy the gaskets on the white plastic clips/prongs and cause the leak.

Exactly what I was thinking. Just a shame it was in such or short time span.
