How much did you pay for your Toyota RAV4?

I figured this might be useful for potential buyers for price comparison/analysis. Over the last 13 years I've negotiated/purchased 7 vehicles for my family. I enjoy negotiating for vehicles and I often do this for my family members.
Every time I do this I learn from my previous experience. One of the worse mistakes I ever made was purchasing a fancy 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT premium AWD. While the purchase price was great, but I got screwed on the interest rate, my credit score was near perfect at the time and these guys suckered me in on over 4+% on interest! I just loved the car too damn much and didn't bother fighting for the trade-in on my old car and interest. If you love the car too much, bring someone with you to hold you back, I was just too much of an eager beaver on that one.

Anyways back on topic:
2020 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD gas model $33,000 purchased this a week before Halloween 2020. Purchased in Maryland.

Vehicle comes with advanced technology package, all weather and liner packages.
I wasn't able to negotiate away the 500 processing fee unfortunately but got a bargain on my trade-in. Made them install crossbars onto the roof rack at the end of financing and agreed to a 1.75% interest rate for 6 years which I intend on paying off in half that time.

There was a $1750 rebate offer at the time as well as a 0% interest rate special, but you cannot have both.

I opted for the 1750 and fought tooth and nail from their original offer of 2.9%. If you have the cash, obviously take the 1750 rebate and purchase it outright.

Honestly, if you are in a similar boat, I have a sneaking suspicion you could go 1.5% or even lower. I was unsuccessful at getting another $500 off from this price so I presume this was close to their threshold price to sell.

Good Luck on your negotiations!

And yes I love this car.

Hi. I just purchased a 2021 Rav 4 LE, but it came with blind spot and backup monitors on the mirrors. Talking the dealer down significantly was difficult because of the high demand for 2021 hybrids. (Only 2 on the lot that were not yet sold. 2/3rds of those being shipped to the dealer were already sold. Half of those ear-marked to the dealer were sold before assembly!). But, I did achieve the following without a trade-in.
- the dealer agreed to install and absorb the cost of crossbars for the roof rack ( for my kayak) and a bike- trailer hitch.
-if I financed (at 1.9) I'd receive a rebate of $1,000. If I paid cash, I'd receive a reduced
rebate of $500. (They obviously wanted me to finance.) I preferred to pay cash and so the dealer agreed to cover the reduced rebate. So I received a rebate of $500 plus they knocked $500 off the price--thus they covered what I referred to as a "penalty" for paying cash. I'm having a remote start (the only feature I wanted that wasn't in the vehicle) installed at my expense--only a few hundred dollars.)
Final shake out: I drove the Rav away for $30,034. I might have been able to do better with a trade-in, but I'm satisfied. Best place to start, however, is offer 4% above dealer cost, rather than working down from MSRP price, but that is more difficult to do when the vehicle is in such high demand.
And yes - I love my new ride!

After doing much research, came up with the formula of taking off 14 percent from MSRP .If you do that you are getting a pretty good deal. Rav4 LE FWD BSM, Pearlcoat paint, roof rack, rubber and cloth floormats, privacy sceen, body side moldings, 27k.

The best negotiating tactic I can think of is after you receive the dealership's final price, tell them you are now leaving for another dealership to compare offers ( whether you intend to our not). When I purchased my '14 Rav years ago, they said the price was now as low as it could go. When I said "thanks" and told them I was heading to the Toyota dealer in another town to compare, (I really wasn't!) they instantly came down another $1000. That particular salesperson was a snake. You gotta almost make it a game or you'll get bit.
I think I paid the doc fee on my 2021, but got a few concessions elsewhere.

Had similar myself. I was buying a used vehicle and had negotiated a tax-in price. When writing up the deal the salesman put the admin fee on. I asked about it and he said “we put that on all our sales.” I replied that we already had a price settled but he insisted. So I got up and said “ok, I’m going back to the other dealer to the the other truck I was looking at. Enjoy your weekend.”

That admin fee disappeared PDQ. Turns out the truck was a piece of crud - I should have left!

Wife just purchased XLE 2021, she managed to get them to throw in pearl red color vehicle, $350, option, total paid was $36,000 Cad, refused to pay the $490.00 document fee, nitrogen tire fee, which was $15 per tire, did she get a good deal very hard to tell, the dealer never loses money that for sure. She was happy, purchased the Rav4 in Edmonton, AB .
