I have a new RAV4 Hybrid Limited AWD. From a distance of about 50 feet, I can see two bolts extending down below what I call the rear axle. The bolts extend down about 1 1/8" below the nut that is on the bolt. There is a bolt on both sides of the "axle" A frame or what ever it is called.

I am just curious if this is normal, but it seems kinda dangerous as it looks like it could certainly catch on anything that passes under it. There is plenty of body clearance on the RAV 4, but those bolts hang down a good inch lower than anything else under neath. Is this by design? Do I need to take it back to the dealer - 45 miles away?

Otherwise, I am enjoying the RAV4 Hybrid.

This is perfectly normal. These "bolts" are part of the sway bar end links where they attach to the rear suspension. Even my 2008 has them.

Thank you for the answer. This is the first time I have seen bolts extending down like that, and sticking out past what I call normal margins.
