Hello, I know the Gen 3 Rav4 has a TSB on the intermediate steering shaft. However, I have yet to see anyone complain about the Gen 4 Rav4 have the same issue, so I thought the issue didn't exist with the Rav4 Gen4. However, I believe I am experiencing a very similar issue to the Gen 3. Anyone else experience this on the Gen 4?

EDIT: Okay, so just got it fixed at the mechanic. Turns out its not the intermediate steering shaft, thats why the oiling trick didnt work. There was something in the electronic steering motor where the gears meet. Thats why it was sticking and what not. Not something you can fix with a little bit of grease. Problem is now fixed.

I'm having this same problem with my 2013 RAV4. Did you ever find a solution?

Wondering if I need to replace the intermediate shaft or the entire steering rack. All of my tie rods/control arm bushings appear to be fine.
Honestly, I bit the bullet and just had the column replaced. I originally tried to put oil inside the little rubber cover people were recommending and it didn't fix it. Toyota dealership wanted $2100 for that. No way I'm paying that much for an annoying issue that doesn't present a safety issue.

I went to an independent mechanic and they decided to just bite the bullet and get the component replaced for $1600. I drive a lot so it gets really annoying on long drives. Instead of replacing the intermediate shaft itself, they changed the entire column.

I have the same issue. I have a 2016 RAV4 Hybrid with 76,000 miles. I noticed the clicking noise about 10,000 miles ago and just didn't think much of it. It is so annoying though. It seems to pop out more after it rains for whatever reason. My Toyota dealership recommended a steering column internal replacement for over $2,100 with break away bolts for replacement ($30) and then an alignment for the column replacement ($70). Besides the noise, I don't know if it really needs to be fixed, but it's probably something that I will have to do.
