Thanks for sharing! Wondering if you can confirm that backlighting works on the main master switch AND the passenger door switches (did you order the main master switch and 3 passenger door switches, as a complete set?). It has been reported that the backlighting on the passenger door switches IS NOT working.

I ordered only the main master switch and it works perfectly and is backlighted. Before ordering the other switches I will go tru the toyota tech doc to know what's the problem with the 3 passenger switches. I will keep you posted if I find a solution.

Hey, @wliu what did you use to tap/splice into harness? I’m looking on amazon and there a gazillion options apparently.
I used these "T" taps (I think that's what they're called) as I had a bunch lying around. They work but not "as advertised" in that you're just supposed to snap it over the wire, but they really suck at cutting through the wire insulation. So usually what I do is cut away the wire insulation to expose the wire before I clip it over the wire, otherwise you don't get a good connection. I used the red ones as the wires are very small diameter. Honestly, you don't even have to use any this and just cut the insulation of the wire you want to tap into to exposed the wire, then just wrap the other exposed wire end around that exposed wire and put electrical tape over it. The electrical wires are going to be in the door panel and not exposed to the weather.

This is what I did for the C-HR passenger switches.

That is correct. For my passenger front and rear window switches, and the front passenger lock/unlock switch they will illuminate whenever the ignition is on. I wasn't able to find make them synch with the headlights.

To clarify, my switches are not from Aliexpress. From my understanding, the switches from Aliexpress are supposedly pre-wired internally to work when you plug it into the harness. However, I'm seeing in this thread that doesn't seem to be working for the passenger switches. In my case, I had to do some wiring myself to the OEM harness to get +12V and GND to the switches because my switches are intended for a C-HR but they work for the RAV4.

Thanks for the clarificación wliu.
What I do not totally understand is why Toyota does not make those switches identical (carry over) at least internally on the wiring and connectors since the function is identical, no matter the different models they are used in.
It will also be more cost effective for the car maker, avoiding such a huge proliferation in similar but different part numbers
Sorry for my english not so good

The RAV4 may have been the first test of removing that feature to save money during manufacture, and could be rolled out in the future to other models. For that reason I wouldn’t be surprised to see other models losing the illuminated switches in coming years.

What i don't understand: why didn't you connect the wiring you had to put there yourself to one of the illumination sources from the fuse box with a wire tap?

Does anyone know where I can buy this window switch? Does anyone have the model #?

They have it listed on aliexpress.com for $55, but it's out of stock. I prefer this version over the 2018 Camry window switch.

Thanks in advance!

I just received mine and installed it for my 2020 Limited Hybrid. Here's where I got it. $40.45 OEM Toyota part# 84040-06070. It took 5-6 days to receive it. Window Switch - Toyota (84040-06070) | Toyota Parts

Hi Roger,

Would it be possible for you to share a photo of this part? I checked out the link and it states "Camry" so I believe this version has the "A" for auto printed on all the buttons. I was hoping for the corolla version which doesn't have the "A" printed as the OP used.

The Camry switch has an “A”. The Corolla switch doesn’t but it costs upwards of $300.

Thank you. I think for ~$40 the Camry switches are the way to go. I'm gonna pull the trigger on these.
Yes. The one I got is for the Camry as Ksingh0311 mentioned above. As mentioned many times, it’s plug and play and a direct fit. I like it better than the stock version because now I don’t have to guess which button I’m using when driving at night if I want to use the windows.

Skip down a paragraph if you don't care to read my meandering backstory... After observing how many people were annoyed with Toyota cheaping out on backlit window controls, I decided to try to do something about it. I was reading about solutions in other threads, and came across a link to a forum in Japan where someone had swapped out their right hand drive buttons with a Toyota Crown. The Crown in Japan is what Toyota calls the Corolla in North American markets. After doing some sleuthing (IE, going to Toyota.com and looking at the 2019 Corolla gallery) I determined that yes, the 2019 Corolla has driver door controls that match the layout of the 2019 RAV4, and that yes, they are backlit. The part (84040-12210) is not cheap at $380. I managed to find an eBay salvage part seller who had that part number listed for $150 with free shipping, pulled from a wrecked 2019 Corolla hatchback. Still expensive for what it is, but I wasn't sure I'd see it for less, so I went ahead. That replacement part showed up today!

Here is the part as it showed up, and compared to the RAV4 door controls:

I used a spudger to pry up the drivers door controls. It comes out without having to remove anything else, just held in with clips, as shown below. Just be careful not to do what I did (I'll get to it below).

Here are the two assemblies, side by side:

The window control buttons easily come off the assembly by removing the three phillips head screws on the either side and underneath the module.

Side by side comparison of the modules (RAV4 left, Corolla right):

And the Corolla module installed in the RAV4 assembly:

Continuing in another post since I can only attach 10 items...
BTW I see you found the switch with the silver border, is a way to request or identify this by p/n? I got mine and the border is black, and would like to have one with silver.
Thanks
