First may I offer my condolences to the citizens of France.
1998 Rav4.1.
My problem pales into insignificance, but nevertheless it is causing me a problem.
I am having a problem turning the key in the ignition lock, so yesterday I had a new key cut, which does make the problem a little better. Only problem is that the new key has not been programmed and does not have the necessary chip installed, so, I am now starting the Rav holding the old key close to the ignition switch whilst using the new key to switch the engine on, and it works to a degree. The new key has the facility to take the chip from the old key. My question is, How do I get the chip out of the old Key? There is no visible means of opening the key. Do I have to somehow break into the old key without damaging the chip?
Any help or advice would be really welcomed.
David
