Hi all,
I have been having a problem switching on my ignition in my 1998 RAV4 so I contacted my local Toyota dealer and they quoted me over £300 + Labour charges to fit a new BARREL!!!!. Well as the car is not worth a lot more than that I called into my local Auto Locksmith and he told me that if I take the barrel out and take it to him he would see what he could do. It took me all of 30 minutes to remove the barrel took it to him and he had the barrel in his workshop for a day. Next day I collected it, fitted it back in the ignition switch, took me a bit longer to refit it, turned it on, PERFECT.All my original keys work perfectly.
And how much did this cost £20.00 Yes just twenty pounds, probably equivalent of $30. That saved me over £300. Result
