has anyone improved the ride on a 2014 Rav4 XLE. I'm thinking that softer shocks and Touring Tires would help. Thanks
for any advice you can give,

I'll say from experience that tires can make a huge improvement. It's not going to be like a BMW but the difference is notable, especially the road noise. That's on two 4.3 models though, not 4.4.

Not just tires, but also tire pressure makes a big difference. Keep pressure around 32 PSI for best combination of ride and performance. You start getting over 35 and every small crack become more and more jarring to the ride comfort.

Didn't you score some nice Pirelli's?

Score? No. Paid dearly for tires and 5 TPMS sensors times two cars? Yes, absolutely!
Still well pleased with the Pirelli tires.
