I would not be sure. If Toyota keeps the inventory tight, they will avoid having to deal with a glut of ’06 RAVs in the summer. Changing manufacturing output is no small feat either. Besides, we’re coming up on the 07 model year pretty soon.
This may not be soon enough for you but it shows that Toyota only anticipated needing 100,000 from this plant and they have revised that figure up:
Toyota expands Woodstock, Ont., plant under construction, adds 700 jobs
WOODSTOCK, Ont. (CP) - Toyota is boosting the annual production capacity of an auto plant under construction in Woodstock and adding 700 jobs, for a total of 2,000.
The Japanese-based company said Tuesday that planned production at the southwestern Ontario factory will increase to 150,000 RAV4 sport utility vehicles annually, from the original 100,000, and the total investment will rise to about $1.1 billion form $800 million.
The facility, managed by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in nearby Cambridge, Ont., was announced last June and construction began in October. Production begins in 2008.
"This capacity increase gives us the flexibility to adjust to future market demand," said Seiichi Sudo, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America. "We are confident in TMMC's ability to handle this growth."
