My hybrid is only at 350 kms so I'm reluctant to floor it. I've noticed though if I want to turn left across tight traffic and get a good launch it takes some time for the ice to kick in. It has good torque when it does but takes a second. Is this just a matter of more throttle or is there a way to get a quicker launch or having the ice on before the actual take-off? been driving in normal lately. Maybe I just need to switch back to sport.

You don't get much torque at all from the ICE, that comes from the electric. From a dead stop there's nothing to do but floor it.
