I bought my Rav4 last Thursday and it's a great suv. My coworker called me today and said he noticed 4 little old women who couldn't see over the steering wheel driving my car. On the ride home I counted 5 rav4 and all driven by old women. I looked on the dealer Facebook page. 4 rav4 sold in the last 2 weeks. Guess what? All little old ladies except for me. Lol. A car driven by grannies is.... well... a granny car!

I had a Miata - the secret is to be butch enough to pull it off. Or camp enough. Or somewhere in the middle - nobody cares.
I not only had a first gen Miata, I'm currently now the owner of a smart car. And I'm in the middle as you say - I don't care!
The RAV4 5th Gen is so popular that it appeals to almost everyone… Women are drawn to them as well as Men… Seniors love them (just visit Florida!)
I sold my 2019 Black 4Runner and bought this 2022 Black RAV4… The first thing I noticed was how this RAV4 looked like a compact version of my 4Runner…
My neighbors never even realized that I had bought a new SUV… So maybe to a certain degree a vehicles color or shape does factor into peoples perceptions on who drives a particular model or brand…
The RAV4 is the #1 selling compact SUV in America so it only makes sense that all types of people regardless of age or gender will drive a RAV4 !

I guess if it's good enough for Elvis to drive around in a pink car, no man should be ashamed. Long Live The King.

The new Tacoma front fascia also resembles the RAV4 IMO.

I noticed the same thing. Lol. My coworker s said I have a soccer mom car. I used to care but less and less. It's easy to drive good on gas and cheap. I'm glad you addressed this serious issue. I came from a blacked out new landrover before this. That was a boss SUV. Zero issues road noise, great power, great looking car. After those payments though I wanted something practical and the rav caught my eye. I am getting a bit mad about Toyota supposed quality though. I noticed small cracks in my steering wheel leather. 3 year old car, only 13 k miles I use a sunshade, leather treatment every wash in the interior. Back lights sun scaled like a crocodile. It believe it's called heat craze. Other than that I do like the car.

Zero issues
If you gave it several years and put a lot of miles on it, it wouldn't have zero issues. Land Rovers and Range Rovers have always been notorious for expensive problems. Things like sensors going out, and unfixable electrical gremlins. They are the nightmare of second and third owners. In the US you can't just walk into a NAPA or other parts store--most replacement parts were expensive dealer only items. Where I live I think there is only one dealer in the entire state.

The great thing about videos like this is that you could use the exact same audio track and just change the visuals for... cars... computers... cameras... dishwashers... hair dryers... vacuum cleaners... toothbrushes... on and on!
its like wearing a pink shirt not everyone can pull that off but i don't have a problem with it and no one bats an eye when i wear one. there was a guy back in the days he had a pink rx7 drift car everyone laughed at him when he pulled up but when he won first place and smoke the shit out of everyone all anyone could talk about was that pink rx7.
the question is how do you see yourself in the rav4 ?
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! My girlfriend and I started counting the number of women driving 5th gens vs the number of men here in Northeastern Tennessee. It seems pretty consistent at about 1 man for every 5 women, and most of the women seem to be little old ladies. Every modified 5th gen we've seen though has been a man.
would a girl add one of these to the rav4 hahaha

My wife is a granny and I replaced her 2007 limited Rav4 V6 with a 2023 Rav4 Limited hybrid because of the good experience we had with the old Rav4 and because of the safety & convenience features like back up camera, collision avoidance and the various other safety features.
Having a car that looks out for you is a good thing, especially when you are older.

Best safety feature for grannies, grandpas - indeed everyone - is the blind side indicator or BSM.

Great video.(y)

Grampa to 6 here. When my wife gave in and joined me in retirement, I told her I wanted to buy here a new car. She wanted a Rav4. I selected all the options except the moonroof which she said it must have and ordered it from Japan. It's a 2019 XLE AWD, in lunar rock color. This was the first year and model for that color from Toyota and I love the Yoda colored Stormtrooper vehicle. My wife loves her car too.

So, it's my wife's gramma car, ordered by a grampa. (y)(y)

Ya I'd never buy a luxery car as a third owner. Even a second owner cost me a lot of money in the past. But I did have it 3 years and drove it all over to Las Vegas from San Francisco multiple times no problems. Lot of fun. I had a new Subaru WRX too that thing was a check engine light every down shift. Very disappointing. I do however like this rugged RAV4 gets the job done. I counted 9 of them in the employee parking lot the other day. Usually a woman gets out of them. Just stating what I see. All the cars I have gone through I wish I had just bought a 69 Camaro and just kept modding it.

Why a '69? My first new car was a '67 Camaro SS. I traded it for my Porsche. Sometimes I still wonder if I should have kept the Camaro.

Back in '74 I had a 1940 Ford coupe with a Chevy 396 c.i. rat engine I think I got from a '67 Chevelle SS. That thing put out lots of horses and torque but was a pain to work on. It had the POS Rochester Quadrajet carb that was unlike any other carb I ever worked on (most guys replaced them with Holley 4 barrels.)--it had funky needles that went into holes instead of regular replaceable jets. It's also the only engine that I ever broke a rocker arm on. They were cheap stamped and flimsy things. ALL the Chevies back in the day were poorly made compared to the MOPARS and the 426 hemi.

This thread made me laugh, it reminded me of the reaction one of my coworkers had when I told him I just bought a brand new vehicle, a RAV4.

"IT'S A CHICK'S CAR!!" panic visible in his eyes.

"No it's not" was my instant reply. 3 years later and I still love my RAV4 as much as I did on day one if not more. But then again I am the type that could not care less what others are thinking, as long as I am happy with my decisions.

I have a new RAV4 SE and I’m an old lady. But I also have two nephews who bought a 2023 Venza (he wanted a RAV4 but the Venza gives him more head room since he’s very tall) and a 2023 RAV4. They’re both in their 30s. So there.

My Wife's 4th gen, or any of the previous RAVs never appealed to me...until the 5th gen. So yeah their marketing to get more dudes worked...it's also working on the new Grand Highlander...which looks just like a bigger RAV. I always thought the current gen Highlander looked too Mom like...same with the Venza.

the new Grand Highlander.
Why don't they make a RAV4 with the new Grand Highlander's turbo 2.4. Should fit OK. Its basically the same engine in our 5th gens.
