Question,
Is it safe to jack a 2011 Rav4 from the front tow hook with a farmer jack?
(to change a tire)

I would not recommend it. You would probably bend the bumper.

Tow hooks and their supports are not designed for lifting - doing so very probably would result in damage.

I would not be lifting off any of that front structure!, the real strength is in the sills, and engine cross member, the rest is cosmetic. the so called "tow points" are more for tieing the car down during freight, not towing things around

That's what I though, I would have done it myself.

so if you get stuck in snow or mud, to have someone pulling you out with recovery straps ok?
and the fact they only include X1 tow-hook is wrong, as I think you want to pull on the front end evenly with the two side right?

You can pull on them to carefully recover a vehicle, but not many normal passneger cars have ones that are rated to serious tonnage, it could distort the front structure if you get carried away :p
