Last month I traded my 2009 Forester for a 2010 "slightly used" Rav 4, and was asking the local dealer for an extended warranty for it, but the cost would have been extremely high (over $2,000-something for a 75,000-mile 7 year warranty). But somebody in this forum sent me an e-mail to tell me that a guy named Jerry from a Toyota dealer in Kansas would same me a lot a money. I talked to the dealer on the telephone, and paid $900-something (don't remember the exact number) for a Platinum warranty as follows: 100,000 miles, 8 years
The reason why I purchased an 8-year extended warranty is because my wife drives under 5,000 miles per year, and I bought the Rav 4 for her.
This is not a scam. The dealer is legit, and so the extended warranty from Toyota. I received the initial paperwork (receipt for the sale) in about a week's time (I live in Alaska), and today I received the brochure/contract from Toyota.

I will also post the following at the "Exterior" forum: I mentioned at another thread that I had checked at Amazon, and there wasn't a Wade bug shield available for the 2010 model. Somebody in this forum responded to my questions about the Wade bug shield for the 2010 Rav 4 (6-cyl/4x4/Base) as follows:
"I installed the Wade bug shield for the 2006-2009 models and it fit my 2010 Base perfectly." I went ahead and ordered this Wade bug shield from Amazon: Wade 72-97162 Smoke Tint Platinum Bug Shield and it does fit my 2010 perfectly. The shield costs $47.00 at Amazon. It's a low profile shield (close to the paint, and does not stick up like some do). The bug shield is attached under the hood's front edge so that it never touches the paint on the hood.
I did have a small problem. I dropped two of the plastic fasteners in the engine compartment, so I will have to buy new ones at the local hardware store. If you don't want to do the same, just follow the very easy installation instructions (I didn't)
