Greetings, I have a 2006 model with around 130,000km on clock.
When cornering left or right I hear a knocking (sometimes preceded by “swinging”) sound coming from rear. The knocking sound also occurs when going over bumps.
I took it to the mechanic and he was unable to locate anything loose. The exhaust and shielding were all tight.
Please help, it’s driving me crazy!

Check the bottom bolts on the shock absorber that they are very tight. On one of my others cars I had a similar problem.

Thanks Frank. Both sides are super tight. Any other ideas?
Often there is a faint “swinging” sound too, just after I have come out of a corner.

Finally got this solved: one of the rear control bars was left loose after the last wheel alignment. Now tightened, now fixed. No knocks no swinging sounds.
