Originally my RAV was shipped to a state that requires front license plates so they drilled the bumper for the factory plate holder. I live in a state that doesn’t require a front plate and the holder is really ugly so here’s my $0.89 fix.

There were some larger ones that might have looked nicer but these did not require reaming out the holes made by the coarse thread plate screws so you could always pop these out and put a plate on later.

(The other things that look like holes are indentations from the holder- hopefully they look less pronounced when the bumper gets more beat up) Font

Yep, there they are, the markings where the long screws caused the small mounting bracket to bulge. I drilled them out so the screws had clearance and the bracket to lay flat.

Little bit more expensive (not really expensive), but light sanding and Plasti-Dip will make it look like it was never drilled. More work, but a labor of love though :).

I am in CA that require front's, so meh!=|

Hi everyone. Similar to William_D (original poster), my RAV4 also had a front license bracket installed and I live in a State that doesn't require it.
However, I do want to keep it as I want to put a Collegiate license plate on it. The problem is the standard length screws are too long and will perforate the front bumper. Luckily I noticed he bracket was bulging as I was securing plate and stopped on time. There were markings left similar to what JFox562 posted above but at least it didn't go through.

Do they sell these same license plate screws but shorter? Or is the only option to trim the regular screws?
To those who live in States where these are required, what do you use? Any help would be appreciated.

Cut the screws to size or take them to Home Depot and ask them for a shorter screw.
