Hello
I have a 2016 awd Rav4 i bought last september as my first dealership vehicle, so far its been great as a daily driver, as you can see in the pics i also have a 02 Nissan Xterra 4wd that i use as a camping and surf trip vehicle, ill probably have to sell the Nissan in the near future and buy a sedan type vehicle. I dont want to be with out a camping rig so i was thinking of using the Rav4 as a light off roader for my trips, i wont be doing anything difficult like i did with the xterra and i think the rav4 will hold nice until i can get my hands on a proper 4wd suv in the future.

So my questions to you guy is what lift do you recommend?, is there any off road suspension options out there?? (i have 93k miles so i think its time to change the shocks anyways) and lastly the previous owner added a hitch reciever i am not planning on towing anything but will it hold a cargo carrier with light camping gear??. I am completly new to Rav4 and Toyotas in general so thanks in advanced for any helpfull advice. If it helps my trips are mostly to remote beaches in Baja California, i know i can't go into deep sand or trails with lots of rocks and ruts but a lot of my favorite spots are reasonable easy to get to, i think the toyo will hold up nice for that..

Thanks.

Hello!

I would look at the Northwoods Performance. They also sell kits that include struts / shocks.

Here's my 2014, 1.5'' lift in front and 1'' in rear. I have a mix of parts for my lift, but I have Northwoods coils and am very happy with them.

What mix of parts do you have for your lift? I am looking at options including sourcing the struts myself, or just getting the whole kit from NP

I lifted mine before there were many kits available. I have Tema4x4 front spacers and homemade subframe spacers in the rear.

I don't recommend the Tema4x4 kit, it is cheap plastic. Works fine in the front but the rear is dangerous.

I got the Northwoods coils afterwards for better ride and load carrying in the rear, the ones I have don't offer any lift on their own. I fitted them onto new struts with new mounts in 2019 and have been happy with them ever since.

LP aventure makes a nice spacer kit, but it's quite pricey. Readylift makes a 2'' front 1'' rear spacer kit that has decent reviews, but I have read that many people end up with the wrong parts in their shipments. Northwoods kit is spacer + coils. There's also the Eibach spring kit, but I don't have any information on that one, although some seem to like it.
