Hey rav4 world,

I recently filled up my wifes 2011 v6 rav4 sport 4x4, and i noticed that it has only been getting 19-20 mpg mixed. It has 48k miles and almost new all season tires. Any tips to get better mpg?

Thanks,

Depending on your driving, that's not really low.

In mixed driving, I get 20-21 on my V6.

EPA (estimates) are often much higher than reality since it's an estimate...I see about 20-22 with mixed driving on my v6...of course SO many factors involved one person to another...

says 19 city 26 hwy. i figured mix would be higher than 19-20.. And usually isnt the epa estimate lower than what a driver can typically get with good driving techniques?
I get about 17 in town--a lot of short trips, my work commute is only 3.5 miles. The best I ever got on the highway was 28.4, but the average speed on that trip was about 65.

With about 75% HWY and 25% CTY I average 26 MPG with my V6.

Although I've seen as low as 22 when I got caught in traffic for 2 hours.

Mileage with my '11 V6 RAV varies from as low as 14+ when used for short trips of about two miles or less to 26+ in mixed mountain highway and Interstate driving (70 mph on the Interstate).

Since picking up a Rav4 I have been checking at each fill up.
I've gotten from 19.4 to 24.9mpg with an average being 22.1. I can live with that.

I noticed this car's mpg varies widely based on how heavy you are on the gas, more so than most cars I've driven. 50-60mph local highway straight through, 30mpg would not surprise me
