Looking to switch from stock 225/65r17 to 225/50r17. Are the only down falls a rougher ride? Does anyone have any input or experience with lower profile tires?

Thanks in advance. :)

I have the Sport model that has 235/55/18 stock tires. If you get 50 series it will make the ride even harsher then mine. Another thing is the diameter is much smaller: 26.3 vs 28.5 inch. So getting these tires means your tire diameter is over 2 inch shorter then normal and your speedometer/odometer will be totally off.

The difference in overal diameter of the tire is 28.5" to 25.85" that more than a 2.6" reduction. That will cause all kinds of issues, more than lowering your RAV. You might get great acceleration but your RPMs will be screaming at highway speeds. Plus not sure what you transmission will do.

Generally you go one aspect ratio (5) for every inch of wheel size to keep the same outside diameter. So if you want to run 50 series tires and are starting from 225/65r17>225/60r18>225/55R19> 225/50r20, you need some 20" rims. Dubs baby.
