Hi guys. Earlier today I tried to change a set of rims with snow rated A/T tires over in anticipation of snow this weekend and the lug nuts did not work. The rims in question are 16 inch OEM Steel rims from the first generation Highlander. Same bolt pattern and same offset as the 16" alloys I have now.

Rims in questions:

Can someone confirm what lug nuts I need for these wheels?

12x1.5 conical lug nuts?

You've got "Type A" steel rims:

There are two different lug nut types.
Type A (long): 90942-01058

Type B (short): 90942-01104

I can't be sure though if "Type A wheel nut" is compatible with "Type A" wheel.
Maybe cross-referencing with pictures of Highlanders on line could help.

Thanks Mick for the reference. I've called the local Toyota dealer but they have no clue. They keep asking for the VIN number to match the factory lug nuts and I obviously don't have that. I told them I am looking for lug nuts for a 2001 Highlander with 16" OEM steel wheels and they are literally lost.

I believe those Type A lugs are the mag seat style ones. I was told by a friend I can only use those for alloy type wheels. The ones on my RAV4 now are the bulge cone lugs. Someone at Toyota told me to get 12x1.5 'conical' type lugs, he said all steel rims from Toyota uses the same lugs.

Cone seat lugs (Maybe the tech was talking about these?)

I will go down to the Toyota dealer on Monday and confirm if the Type B lugs above will work or not.
