Hi,

On my rav4 2005 d4d diesel, i would like to change the manual control of the air conditioner in the automatic control of the a.c.(Please see the attached pic).
Does anyone know what this means, if this is possible?
Which extra parts should be added, except the control unit.
In the pictures i saw that in the automatic control are more wires that in the manual control.
If anyone could help me, i appreciate.
Thanks.

The automatic control works electrically where the manual works with cables. I question if it can be changed over at all. This is primarily a North American forum and there are no diesel Toyotas here of any kind.

Try here:

Also I moved this to the correct area.....4.2.
I've looked into this myself, and while the north american models use cables, the fresh air flap is motorized. after looking at where the cables attach, you can almost see exactly where the temperature motors would go, they're essentially stepper motors that turn the existing equipment.

the bigger issue I see here is the sunlight sensor up in the dash, im not sure if you can knock/cut out the spot in the dash for the sunlight sensor.
Thanks for your answers. I see that is maybe a complicated job and i'm not prepaired yet to dismantle all my dashbord.
you may not need to dismantle everything, id love to get some of the equipment and test it out, sadly none of the 2001-2005 rav4's in Canada came with auto climate control, so parts will be difficult.

1. Control Head
2. Stepper motors for air location and temperature
3. Temperature sensor
4. Sunlight sensor

from my reading, the auto climate hvac box is the same as the manual, just needs the motors added and of course wired in.

I keep having the same debate… Numbers or not it functions the same way if you don’t care about the auto feature which I don’t.

Question:
Is there any other difference between the two systems? I see in the configurator it states:

“An active carbon filter traps particles, pollen and odors and thoroughly filters fine dust out of the outside air before it can reach the interior.”

Does the single zone system not have these filters ?
