I just bought a 2011 RAV4 sport with the stock 235/55R18 tires on it. I was looking into lifting it but from what I've read on here, that's not a good idea. I do go hunting and camping though so I would like to put slightly bigger tires on it to give me a bit more ground clearance. What do you guys recommend?

I believe 245 is the widest you can go but will not work well since you need to go with a lower profile tire. You should go with a higher profile series with maximum 235 width. This will give you a beefier tire with more sidewall that gives a better ride then what you have now. A taller tire will give you more height. The down size is inaccurate odometer and speed reading.

You can use this tire size calculator to compare your current size with one that you want to fit.

But how tall? Ive been searching the forum as well, the tire size chart link I keep finding is broken or dead. I just bought a '12 V6 with 225's on 17's, and would really like a bigger set of rims and meaty tires but can't find anything to confirm what will fit

Someone in this thread used 245/65/17. That makes the diameter 29.5 inches tall.
