I wonder, if MG2 (front traction motor) burns out or fails for any reason, could the RAV4 still function normally by having MG3 (rear traction motor) take over?

I seriously doubt that, study how ice+mg1+mg2 works together and you will come to the same conclusion. :/

No, that would shut the system down. The planetary gear system in front depends on a functioning motor.
