Most Miles on RAV4?

Can you replace the RAV for as much or less than the cost of some engine work? I'm of the opinion you cannot. I'd rebuild it with some 11:1 pistons :D

My RAVs have 105k and 124k. I've replaced things that were damaged by the previous owners but have never had a problem in 50k miles of combined driving under my care. On second thought, one of my RAVs has exhibited what I believe is a failing fuel pump on a cold start - engine flamed out on two mornings on the Oregon Coast. Sea level elevation + cold dense air = lean condition. As I live in the mountains, this event has never happened again since.

My two former vehicles were a 2002 Ford Escape V6 and a 2002 Tundra V8. Our small family lifestyle includes long cross country road trips, daily city driving and weekend overlanding. The RAV4.2 has proven to be a superior vehicle in our application than my previous rides. Doesn't hurt that I just paid $5.00 per gallon in Seattle this weekend and only needed 14 gallons as opposed to 26 for my Tundra. I averaged 28 mpg this trip
Those gas prices are a shocking reality.
