Did you check the surface condition of the muffler? I forgot to take a close look when it was sitting on the dealer’s site, but saw some small rust stains on it just one or two weeks later. While, I bought the car after I moved to MN, kind of a neat state but with salty roads.
The metal muffler looks naked, and thin, for some mud or street-stones had already left some marks and dents on it.
Does the anti-rust warranty cover all the surfaces or only those painted?

According to the service manager at my Toyota dealer, yesterday, all Toyota's now come with stainless steel exhaust systems. He said he expected they probably would last 100,000 miles. :D And that is here in the "Ocean State" in New England.

Isn't the exhaust system stainless steel?
Most OEM exhausts are now 409 SS. You will still get surface rust, but it won't rust through as easily.
Similar to the reply from dealership:
That warranty covers the "rust through developed from inside to outside." Don't know what happened to the "from outside to inside" thing, but surface rust is clearly ignored.
