My brake pedal rattles and makes a metal with metal noise when I am driving, and it's more noticeable of course when I am on bad asphalt or concrete roads. I had the dealership look at it during my last maintenance visit last week and they said they had to replace the whole brake pedal assembly unit because the issue is with the bushings. THe whole job is over $500! WTH? My friend insists that if it's the bushings, they can just replace that and not get a whole new assembly unit. Please help! It does not represent a safety issue though. Is this something I should definitely do at the Toyota dealership or can I take it somewhere else? Thanks!

Usually with a dealership they replace the whole thing instead of just the simple part that's bad. The reason? More $$ for you to pay them. Get a second opinion from a good independent shop.
