Lately when I'm driving my car is making a weird sound the best I can describe is like a motorboat engine at high rev. It's subtle, though. I'm not sure if anyone else in the car can hear it or not. But it seems to be coming from the back. I just had the warranty work done for the rear differential coupling Thursday. I thought that would take care of it, but not only didn't the sound go away, the dummies at the shop apparently bent or broke one of the heat shields. But that's an issue they'll wind up fixing shortly. Any idea what the weird motor boat sort of sound could be?

The car has 143,000 miles on it. It's a 2009 V6. I do as much of the work on it myself that I can including the differential fluid, transfer case, basically all the fluids, the brakes, o2 sensors, filters, everything electrical, but I haven't done any of that stuff in a while, so i don't think it has anything to do with that. The only thing I had done recently was a new front tire put on at Pep Boys.
