I've been looking at this for some time. When my brother (who moved to Florida) did this installation, it was great. Power on high gear (highway) was excellent. But, since I've done some installation, I removed what he installed and now I know how well it was installed. I'm talking about adding an intake pipe. I've tried the laundry aluminum pipe (which at first works well) but the durability of the pipe is low. Especially if its getting or too much water or the tires scrape with it once in a while. So, the first problem is space. I want to place a pipe from the air horn on the front spoiler directly into the K&N Apollo filter. (Photo 1)

In photo 2 you can see from left to right where I want to place the pipe. My question is, if I remove the plate that holds the front hook will cause any problems. Its the one with three holes closes to the tire.

I can place a 4 inch pipe without it scraping the tire and strong enough for it to last. I'm thinking of PVC pipe or an aluminum flexible pipe like this one.

Not an expert, but that plate looks like it prevents the parts forward of it from buckling down and inward. As long as you brace it up some other way it would most likely be fine. Probably the only time it would matter if it were there or not is in a minor collision.
