Hello fellow RAV4 enthusiasts, I am a new and happy owner of a used 2017 RAV4 Hybrid Executive (German market) which is something similar to the Platinum trim in the USA.

I have two questions you might know the answers to.

Unfortunately I only got 1 key that comes with a small metal plate with a 5 digit number which I think might help when ordering a second/replacement key, it also comes with a black plastic thing that I don't know its purpose, do you know what's that for? photo attached

Next to the 12V auxiliary battery there's a little hose, what that's for? photo attached

Thanks for your help

The plastic fob is not related to the RAV4. Might be a key locator fob for the car dealership so they can find keys to cars.

The hose is to vent excess pressure from the battery case if ever neeeded. (Low altitude car moving to the Swiss alps)

Have a great week and welcome to the RAV4 life.

Apparently the plastic thingy is some kind of security device, I always had it inside the center console and today I decided to take it out and leave it at home, and the next time I wanted to start the RAV4, I couldn't.
So I went for the plastic thing and when I approached the RAV4, it made a beep (the RAV4) and when I push the start button, it started right away.

Maybe it's for the European models or was installed aftermarket.

The plastic thing is part of an aftermarket immobilizer, it has a PCB with a battery (see attached photo).

The above mentioned hose should be connected to the auxiliary battery (see attached photo).

BTW if someone recognizes the brand/model of the aftermarket immobilizer, please let me know (I don't get any results in Google, and the PCB doesn't have any model number).

I'm planning on removing it altogether because it doesn't make any sense since I only have one of this transponders. the problem is the I can't find the location of the immobilizer inside the car, any help would be more than appreciated
