Hey,

I recently bought a 2001 Rav4. It was in an accident before I bought it and the owner I bought it from said that he thinks its the trans axel and needs to be replaced. My father who is a mechanic, (older mechanic) hasn't worked on cars like the Rav4 before and he thinks it might be a bearing in the trans axel. It turns on, and it drives for maybe around 5 miles before "locking up." I have done research, I mean enough that I could do and understand. I even tried finding youtube videos about this so he could watch them to understand how to fix it but there was no luck. We are just stuck now because he has no idea how to get up there to replace or fix it. We don't know if we need to drop the engine or if it is an easy replacement fix. It's been sitting for about 2 months now and I really want to drive it :( it's beautiful!

I am open for ANY help at this point.
