Is the 2.5L 4 cylinder gas engine an interference or non-interference engine? IF an interference is the breaking of a timing chain or a failure of the tensioner a rather rare occurrence?
I have never heard of a timing chain breaking in a Toyota engine.

Coking of the valves has been a problem for many of the manufactures who use GDI in their engines.
Toyota recommends using Top Tier Gas. Says so right in the owners manual. Top Tier Gas has more cleaning additives than other gas. If you consistently use Top Tier Gas, there should be no carbon build up.

the actual compression ratio for Miller cycle is much lower, so the engines are designed for low octane gasoline (RON 91 / Regular).
As mentioned above, it's a Miller cycle engine,
This is the first time I have heard of a "Miller Cycle" engine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_cycle). Toyota in all their sales literature and specifications says it is an Atkinson cycle engine. I have never seen any Toyota documentation otherwise. Note that the Wikipedia article states that the Miller cycle engine includes a super charger; there are no super chargers or turbo charges in the RAV4. Also see the last paragraph of Wikipedia about the Atkinson cycle engine.

Toyota has earned the reputation as a one of the most reliable cars, and being at the top of the sales, proves that. I have owned many Toyotas over the years and have had no serious problems with any of them. Yes, I would buy another again.

As others have suggested, you might consider the RAV4 hybrid or Prime. Much better gas mileage, and the simple transmission design has been around for decades.
