Not much talk about the 2016 model year?

I'm a little surprised that there isn't much talk on here about what might be new in 2016 for the RAV4. My wife really likes the current generation so we are excited to see what might be in store for this mid-cycle refresh.

I guess the big news is the addition of the hybrid and SE trim levels.
I have also seen that they have revised the front fascia and I'm not sure that I like it. Is that maybe only for the se model? (hope so).

It also looks like they may have put in better cup holders and eliminated that tacky faux carbon fiber

Sunglass holder. More USB slots, (for recharging the phone). Rear 12v outlet. These will be nice. The faux carbon fiber is okay with me. Better than plain plastic. Don't really care for the new nose redesign.

Really, really wish I could have purchased the hybrid, but just couldn't wait, (I just purchased my RAV earlier this week). My new RAV is replacing a Lexus AWD hybrid SUV. I love the hybrid technology. But, I suspect that the new RAV4 hybrids are going to command a premium the first year they are available. As it is now, hybrid technology raises the price by at least $5k, or more.
Indeed... the hybrid sounds cool (especially the part about it having better acceleration than the traditional drive train), but $5k is a high premium.
Hmm... I didn't like the new front end when I first saw it, but it's kinda growing on me.

Check out the white one shown in this article. It looks pretty nice and reminds me of a Stormtrooper from Star Wars.

We are putting a small deposit next week for a 2016 Hybrid AWD LTE. My wife wants the pearl color for a few hundred dollars more and the Terra Cotta interior! It's her car so I let her be. I did all the researching though, haha.

We are likely going for the technology package to avail of the Toyota Safety Sense, hopefully for less than $1k.

Thumbs up on the Stormtrooper comparison! The redesign has grown on me. It looks a little less cutesy or girly, IMO, than earlier Ravs (and much of the competition).

Does your dealer have allocation info yet? My dealer said he'd call me as soon as he has allocation news, but he didn't suggest a deposit.

I really don't know. I went through a car buying service and the owner suggested I reach out to this particular dealership's manager and assured me I'd get a very decent deal.

The manager said putting a $1k deposit would put me in the queue though he never suggested there were many other eager buyers like me. I suggested to my wife to wait until after winter is over but she wants the SUV asap. :(
I called my local dealer to get on "the list" for a 2016 Hybrid and she said she'd put me on it and would call me once she had dates and release info. She also said there haven't been (m)any inquiries about the 2016's yet. I feel like I'll need to keep an eye out myself and follow up as I'm not confident she'll remember to call me. I may even walk in there in person at some point to get something in writing.

There was no mention of a deposit even though I would have been happy to provide one.
Was just informed by a sales manager that Cinnamon replaced Terra Cotta as the optional interior color. Does Cinnamon look brownish read? Is this a first or has Cinnamon been available on Lexus vehicles?

I'm not sure, but more brown and less orange would be great!
Also, at least in Canada, LED headlights and taillights as well as the Bird's Eye View are included in the Hybrid LTE (AWD) with technology and TSS package.

Like this on BMW?
Cinnamon brown interior
Hmm... not as good as I saw it in my head, but still better than the terracotta

Damn it looks like mustard yellow, albeit a little lighter. My wife decided to play safe and go with black.
Glad I found this thread. I was looking at some reviews and the seats had these bright orange colour that looked like they were from a 60s muscle car. Got us worried since we have ordered the cinammon.

But then I realized they are probably terra cotta, and other pictures have the more pleasant darker brown of the new cinammon. Also, it's probably partially due colour balance of the original pictures, since some of the early pictures looked a lot less orange than that particular review.

I have the cinnamon interior in my 2016 SE. It's actually very nice, and I get compliments on it all the time. The 'cinnamon' color is a saddle tan, but photos seem to show it a bit more orange than it really is. Here is a picture the day I first looked at the actual car I wound up buying. As you can see, it's not the whole seat with the cinnamon color, but mostly trim. I have seen pictures of the cinnamon with the colors reversed on kbb.com.

Were you looking at the nutmeg pictures? Because Cinnamon doesn't look anything like mustard yellow. This is nutmeg:

Thanks. It does look orange in that pic too, but saddle tan is what we were expecting, so that's perfect.

The plethora of reversed colours - mostly tan with some black - all over the net gets confusing. It's even on Toyota's website for some pictures.

I do like the amount of cinnamon on the SE's but since the Limited's have the colors switched (way more of the cinnamon color on both top and bottom of dash and center portions of the seat) I choose to just stay with the black interior as it can be slightly more difficult to resell since its a love it or hate it color. I personally really like the SE's and wish they would've kept that color scheme for the other models, much more appealing IMO.

Yeah, I like both, but prefer the SE's Cinnamon. BTW, I've only just discovered the differences on the US site. The Canadian site doesn't have any of the colours shown at all, hence my confusion.

However, as I mentioned in my other post (which I've quoted below, from the other thread), there is no 100% guarantee the Cinnamon setup in Canada will necessarily reflect the Cinnamon in the US. We ordered an Electric Storm Blue Hybrid Limited with Tech Package in Canada, with Cinnamon, but that colour combination doesn't even exist in the US. So I guess we'll be in for a little surprise, either way.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Thanks for confirming it.

Unfortunately, it's not shown anywhere on the Canadian website for any of the colours. Irritating. However, now I see it is available on the US site. Cinnamon for the Limited Hybrid's SofTek appears to be mostly Cinnamon, with less black.

What's interesting though is that on the US site, the Electric Storm Blue comes in only Black or Ash. There is no option for Cinnamon or Nutmeg.

On the Canadian site, the Electric Storm Blue comes in only Black or Cinnamon. In fact, none of the Canadian RAV4 Hybrids have Ash or Nutmeg. The only two options are Black or Cinnamon.

On the US site, there is no Cinnamon at all for any of the XLE Hybrids. The only colour options are Black, Ash, or Nutmeg, all fabric.

Colour choices are again different for the XLE and Limited gas models. For the SE gas model, the Cinnamon is available, but it is mostly black with less Cinnamon.

So now I know. I think I prefer the SE's Cinnamon to the Limited Hybrid's Cinnamon, but both are decent so I don't mind. And like I said, it's my wife's car so it wasn't my decision anyway. ;) And that's assuming the Canadian colours are like the US ones. That isn't guaranteed either. As mentioned, you can't even get Cinnamon in an Electric Storm Blue Limited Hybrid in the US, but Cinnamon / Electric Storm Blue is what we ordered in Canada.
