How much oil does the oil filter hold? ?

 

4.6 quarts is with filter change.

 

I just did my first oil/filter change on my 2018, and had pretty much the same result. I also used Mobil 1, so your thought of an under-filled jug could be correct. I didn't use a full jug but it was more than the (jug indicated) 4.6 qt.

 

Hi- I just did my oil change as well. I was also expecting to put in 4.6 quarts but ended up putting the entire 5 qt bottle of mobile 1 to reach the full line. Rechecked it an hour later and still exactly at full. Had me a bit worried at first. I might measure out 1 qt at a time to see if the bottle is under in my next oil change

 

The manual states its 4.6 oil capacity, like in most DIY oil change threads.
But it took 5 and about 1/4 quart to reach the full mark on the dip stick for my first rav4 oil change price.
I guess it could be under filled jug from Mobil 1.
Anyone else uses 5 or more quarts on their oil change?
