I have a 2021 RAV4 xle hybrid and just finished the 20k service. I will not likely go back to the dealer for anything not serious that I can do myself. What oil filter works for this model and is the crush washer really needed? There must be a substitute drain plug and a permanent metal or composite washer available the does not leak. Having to go to the dealer for the washer and filter is a bother.

what is required is no leaking from the drain, so you can do anything you want if it doesn't leak*.

if it is you doing your own work it is less critical to use a toyota specific washer....because you'll be taking all
the care and watching what you do...and watching how well it doesn't leak.

toyota specific washer means it won't leak at *specific torque. using something else may mean
you need to over torque which is bad for the threads.

so...as long as you don't strip it, use whatever works

What is the recommended torque?
