hi,

I just did oil change on my 2014 limited.

I have stock oil filter cap, I couldn't get the plug off and change the small o-ring inside.

is there a tip for getting it out? should I just get a new set of cap/plug for next oil change?

other than this, everything went fine.(new filter, large o-ring, new oil, etc)

side question: I only drove this car for about 1000 miles since last oil change (June 2015). so my car only has about 2200 miles on it

If I don't drive much like this can I just change oil every 2 yrs or so? or more often?

Thanks

Forget about the little plug, it's not necessary to remove it. My dealership has never done it.

Toyota says you should change the oil every 6 months regardless of mileage. I only drive about 6600 miles a year and change it every 6 months.

If I recall, the 2014 RAV (as in your Profile) uses synthetic oil and under normal driving condition your oil and filter need to be changed only after each 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first, if you continue to use synthetic.

I would change the oil at least every year. Gonna have to somehow carefully hold the oil filter cap and then remove plug.
