1998 4-door FWD, a bit over 140K.
She was trusty and easy on my wallet even after broken city pavement and bad weather turned her into a spare car to haul stuff.
Now I'm wondering if it's over for her with a rapidly growing leak from below the engine that looks like very thin oil.

No warning lights, coolant is half-way between low and high, oil is plenty, car starts and runs without any odd vibration. Compression and gas mileage is not what it used to be. Faint, but noticeable burnt smell in cabin.
My worst suspicion is blown head gasket, looking for feedback/confirmation/suggestions. See pics.

[edit] I wanted to change the title of the post when I noticed that it was obviously not the top of the head but, oh well...

Yeah, doesn't look too serious to me. My first thought was valve cover gasket leaking a little oil but oil wouldn't rust the bracket in the center of picture 2. Probably is a coolant sensor leak as says LugNut. Cheap fix.
I'd powerwash the area and see what shows up wet first.
