On longer trips (> 4hrs), what is your solution to access of chilled food in the back seat....

Here is the "problem", the back passenger seats fold down, but are NOT level, there is a gap between the center console and the back seat when folded.
On our last trip we took a moderate (18"x12"highx12" deep) ice cooler. we didnt have enough luggage or baggage to load on the "unlevel" folded down backseat and the cooler would slide down and access to the wife's reach was difficult .

So, has anyone got any suggestions which make sense to storing drinks and snacks for longer road trips ? Like 8 hrs ot 13 hrs trips?) Yes, pulling over is always an option, but who wants to be getting on and off the "off ramps" on a regular basis.
Yup, this is not a heavy duty problem, its just that the gap between the front seats and the unlevel folded back seats dont make for safe and easily accessible access

Any constructive suggestions welcome.....

We never fold the seat down; frequent use items like food coolers are strategically placed for easy access on the 2nd row, while longer-term stuff resides in the cargo section. There is enough friction between the bottoms of the coolers we have and the seat for the coolers not to slosh around. The material, covering the backs of the seats, is much more slippery, hence the problem you described.

And I agree with @JDF RAVMAN about taking frequent potty breaks to stretch the anatomy and liberate some tummy space for more "drinks and snacks" :)

I generally keep a soft cooler at the floor of the passenger foot well when driving solo on long trips to access food and drink. If I have a passenger the soft cooler goes in the back seat foot well for easy access. If traveling with a full cooler it is generally buried and will require a stop to access. If traveling with a hard sided full cooler we are on a longer camping trip and it will be buried.

When my wife and I did our cross country trip last year, we got a cooler that fit perfectly on the floor behind my driver seat. I did the driving and she dished out the goodies since it was an easy reach from the passenger seat.

I'm not too large a dude so the driver seat is only maybe 1/2 back. Larger or taller drivers with the seat further back might have to get creative.
