Has any purchased one of the Porta Cable Dual Action Polisher Kits? If so where and how much and which pads are best for new Rav4 Blue Crush paint

I have an old one I started my detailing passion with. For very light correction or applying a wax or paint cleaner, it s ok, for anything more, I would get the Griot's Garage, it's more powerful and has a better warranty. For the type of pad, depends on what you plan to use it for.

Same here and I 100% agree with the Griot's machine over the Porter Cable. I would also suggest paying the little extra for the optional longer cord. Look here: Griots Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher

Pads vary in aggressiveness depending on what you plan to do. There are pads to spread wax all the way through using an aggressive compound and everything in between. Start educating yourself on the various pads, sizes, and uses. Autogeek is THE leader in detailing supplies. There are also how to videos, tips, and explanations. The Autopia forum is owned by Autogeek and is a "secondary" forum. Although good it doesn't have anywhere close to the available information that Autogeek has.

Also folks new to detailing with a machine polisher seem to think that one pad is used for the whole vehicle, not so. You can easily use six or more depending on the size of the vehicle and how good or bad the paint condition is. I prefer Lake Country flat pads but that is strictly a personal choice. http://www.autogeek.net/lake-country-beveled-pad-kit.html

If you go with 5.5" pads (recommended) you will also need a smaller backing plate (5.0") to accommodate them.
