I received a notice for a recall on the power liftgate of my 2016 Limited. Says they need to replace the "Back door" ECU, but it 's not real clear on why. Anyone know what the actual problem with these has been? It says it can become inoperative if there is interference with an object while using it. I'm wondering if it just becomes manual at that point or does it get stuck and not open or close further.

I haven't gotten any notification yet but I'm currently having that issue. When closing the door (auto) one of the luggage was sticking out a bit so the door just stopped, and since then it won't open or close automatically I'm so annoyed with it, I have to do it manually every time. I have a maintenance scheduled for next Sat so will bring this up. Read the manual with no help at all, I'm about to disconnect the battery apparently seems to be the only fix to reset the sensors.

I haven't received the notice either, but a VIN check shows there is a service campaign for the hatch issue.

My navigation system was replaced yesterday and found that my 16XLE was included in the recall while doing the intake paperwork. Fortunately they had the parts and all is good :)

Thanks for the address. I have a 2016 Limited HB and it does not show a need for the fix. Got mime in June, so maybe only earlier models.

:wink Only one way to know for sure: stick something in the way and tell it to close. If you blow out the ECU then you need a new one.

They must have made a change during 2016 production year. My 2016 purchased in Oct. was not on the recall list either.

When the vehicle was purchased doesn't mean anything as far as when it was built, the build date plate located between the front and rear driver side doors has the month and year of build, mine was built Jan'16 and has the service campaign listed on the recall/service campaign site.

Are you sure? I thought they scrapped and crushed all cars that were over 30 days old. :wink

Indeed, had an appointment today to have it replaced and got there to find out it will be weeks. Would have been nice for them to save me the trip seeing as I had an appointment. What a waste of time.

That's how I found out, called to make an appt for my 12mo/10k service next month and get the PBD ECU replaced on one service visit, they wouldn't make an appt until the part is in stock, so looks like I'll be making two visits for service instead of one, they didn't think it would be in stock by the second week of Feb.

There's no reason for anyone to rush in to have it done, the recall is good for years. If its working it may well continue to do that.

For what its worth. The ECU for my Limited came in today. Although they said it might be a few weeks, it only took them 1 day. Still taking a second trip though to get it doen
