I did my oil change at the dealer and they told me mine was part of the recall. They had the part in stock and was able to replace it at the same time. I would call the dealer first to see if they have the ECU or have them order it so you don't have to make 2 trips.

Just FYI the rear height is reset and you have the set it again. Just in case any of you have your door at a certain height so it doesn't hit anything when it opens.

Went in today for 12mo/10k service, mentioned the service campaign to the service writer, that I had received the first notice, but no notice that the replacement ECU was in stock, the service writer checked and was told it was in stock, so they replaced it. It works fine, but they reprogrammed it to the default settings, I had it set to open on a short press of the instrument panel switch, but they changed it to the default press and hold for .8 seconds, switched it back to .0 sec with Techstream, good to go now! :smile

Wouldn't setting it to .8 seconds be better? Just in case you accidentally touch the switch.

Not really, I'm pretty sure the PBD is disabled if the vehicle isn't in park although I don't recollect testing it, the .0s is a factory setting option, been set that way since new a year ago.

If disabled when not in Park then it's safe. Because of the switch's position and not lit, I sometimes have to fumble for it.

I checked when the switch will open the PBD, it will open if you're not moving even if the shifter is not in park, but wouldn't open when in drive and moving, prolly same parameters as the Nav system.

This issue just came up on our 2013 RAV4 Limited that we just bought used in November of 2019. Was there a recall for the 2013 models? The “fix” didn’t work after trying multiple times.

The PBD service campaign only applied to certain 2016 Rav4s IIRC, you can look recalls up at the link by your VIN.
